I had a PS3 and it was never connected because my family could not afford the Internet. The only problem is that with the PS3, more and more is the gaming experience being pushed online.
Most apps are not pre-loaded on the machine, Certain encoder playback requires server authentication, most games have DLC, and some games apparently pass QA because they can offer a day one patch when without the patch they are broken games. More games than ever seem focused towards online play than split screen play in this generation too.
It all builds up to a gaming experience that is becoming richer online more than offline. The Vita again is something a little more suited to online. And when we mention online, quite frankly we all mean a direct console to server connection.
The PS3 can be updated remotely via memory stick, but because of DRM, not much else other than that can be accessed. Besides, it would have taken a week to download all that data anyway. All we know is that we could barely hear it running. While the air conditioning struggled against a small army of PS3s, enormous HDTVs, and excitable game reporters, the PS3s themselves hummed along quietly and solidly.
The PS3 will come packaged with a free Internet browser. You can place multiple Web pages within view and stream media from several Internet locations simultaneously. I had my problem with the hdmi cable being damaged by moisture, i came to know this after I got my ps3 repaired by a great local retailer in my city [That Sony Centre was not able to solve]. James dykes. Somehow I got ours up and running. I went into The safe mode and reset everything twice. The last time I did not set the date. And it started working. Not sure what I did. But who cares bc it's working.
Good luck gamers. Cheri blueyes I've tried the double beep thing but, it makes me do this almost every time that I turn it on. When I want to use the PS3 in the living room, it takes about thirty minutes before I can actually get everything to work, this is every single time. I have also already changed out my HDMI cable which only helped for a little while. Now no matter what I do, I have to wait with the no signal message moving around the screen for about half an hour and eventually it will actually show up with a signal.

I myself needs help can anyone help me I have a old school Samsung HDTV Progressive monitor I have my PS3 plugged in Via HDMI and screen is blacked out ive cut off all power to it unplugged all components and only had ps3 plugged in and it still only works via rca only i cant watch my blue ray movies help please.
Steven psychotodd I did the hold down 5 second thing heard the beeps. Turned back on. Set it up, good to go. Played fine for 2hrs. Then did it again. But now i feel the ps3 start up and start spinning the disc.
Then it just shuts off, no beeps. I've unplugged cord. Replugged every cord.. Any one know what i should do now? I've got both tv and ps3 unplugged now, waiting on a hero to help….
