Uploading GPX files to Garmin devices is very simple and a great way to get your watch to help with navigation. But when you upload them to a Garmin watch or any other GPS-enabled device , you can then follow the course, and your device will show you which way to go.

Firstly, and obviously, you need a GPS-enabled Garmin device. You also need the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone. There are ways to do it without Garmin Connect, but using Connect is definitely worth it, and it gives your watch many more features.
You also need a browser on a computer. And, lastly, you need to have the GPX file you want to upload stored on your computer. You can create new routes using the phone app itself through Courses, as well as import GPX files from third party apps on iPhones and Android phones.
